Wine tours in the Rhône valley

Wine in the Rhône Valley

For 2000 years, vineyards have stretched along the Rhône from Vienne to Avignon. Thanks to the fertile soil, abundant sunshine and closeness of the river, the Rhône valley is one of the most diverse wine regions in France. The reds are delicious and fruity, the whites aromatic and fatty. The grape varieties used here are numerous. In red wines, we mostly find Cinsault, Grenache Noir, Syrah and Carignan. White wines are mainly made from Marsanne, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne and Viognier; less common are Gigondas, Côte Rôtie, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Crozes-Hermitage.

The concept of wine tours

Wine tours, combine wine and travel over a weekend. Don’t expect to be drinking wine all day, but prepare for a set of wine-related activities.

Wine tours offer unique experience allowing you to learn about oenology or improve your knowledge, taste new wines and learn about the months of work behind the making of France’s best wines.

Wine tours can be enjoyed by anyone, you don’t have to be a qualified oenologist.

Truffles and wine

Offered by the Boissonnet estate in Serrières in Ardèche, this experience is perfect for those who wish to start their wine tour slowly. The original program proposes to combine wine- and truffle-tasting. We start in the morning, by visiting a truffle farm and discovering how cavage works, before visiting the Boissonnet estate, where we’ll meet the winemaker. Wine will be accompanied by truffle butter and scrambled eggs. Two packages at € 50 and € 90 respectively are available, the second one including a hearty lunch. Serrières is situated 96km north of Les Bastets campsite.
